Today, the reimagined Apollo Hall pays tribute to its colorful past while standing as a vibrant reminder of Denver's pioneer spirit and the remarkable transformation of Larimer Square.

Apollo Hall, located at 1427 Larimer Street, has a storied history that mirrors the evolution of Larimer Square and Denver itself. Originally built in the 1800s by Barney Bros & Co. as a billiard and liquor saloon, it quickly transformed into Denver's first conveniently located hotel and then, by October 1859, into a lively theater.

Known for its drinking, gambling, and theatrical performances on the second floor, Apollo Hall also served various purposes over the years, including a courtroom, lighting store, and furniture shop.

By the mid-20th century, like much of Larimer Square, the building had fallen into decline. However, Dana Crawford’s preservation efforts in the 1960s revitalized the area, restoring its Victorian charm and historical significance.
